Cescily Vance is a Freshman at the University of Iowa, pursuing a degree in Double Bass Performance and a possible double major in Music Therapy. Originally from North Liberty Iowa, Cescily started her bass career in fourth grade and has continued to grow in both her skill level and her love for music. Cescily was first inspired to pursue a music degree after watching Peter Jacksons, “The Hobbit”. She felt strongly motivated not only by the story line of a home oriented person going off to have incredible adventures, but also by the mesmerizing film score. From that point on, Cescily became more driven than ever to be come the best bass player she could possibly be, so one day she could create her own film scores. She became involved in Jazz Band, Show Band, the Pit Orchestra, and Symphony Orchestra. With practice, persistence, and her private teacher -Gary Palmer- Cescily became principle chair at her high school, and had the honor to play in the Iowa All State Orchestra, the Iowa Youth Honors Orchestra, Luther college’s Dorian festival, and the University of Iowa Hawkeye Honors Music Festival. In her free time, Cescily enjoys being in the outdoors, getting involved with the Newman Center and has joined the Iowa Track and Field Club. Cescily is excited to study double bass at the University of Iowa, and is excited to see what adventures come her way!
