Rebeca Furtado started her double bass studies when she was 14 years old at the institution “Casa de Musica de Ouro Branco” in Brazil. In 2014, she graduated from the State University of Minas Gerais, where she studied with professor Valdir Claudino. While living in the city of Belo Horizonte, she taught bass lessons at the company Inhotim and performed with local orchestras such as Minas Gerais Symphony Orchestra and Pianissimo Orchestra. In 2015, Rebeca moved to the United States to pursue an MA with professor Volkan Orhon at the University of Iowa.
Rebeca is currently a first-year doctoral student with a teaching assistantship at the University of Iowa and regularly performs with the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Orchestra and Quincy Symphony Orchestra.
